We are so very excited to offer you Cotton Seed Studio and our on-line partner, www.homedecoratingstudio.com. The roots to our business go back 40 years, when I was 10 years old. I started discovering my creative flair when I joined 4-H. When I completed my 10 years in 4-H, I had received national recognition and even judged on the national level. The goals and focus I achieved, led to goals I reached for in college. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Textiles & Clothing—Retail from South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. During these college years, I had the opportunity to work in retail management with several businesses including children’s clothing, a national fabric chain and a corporate t-shirt business.

While at college, I met my husband and as it turned out, my business partner, Buck Crouse. With his 2 years in college and 4 years in the military, we joined forces to start Crafty Creations shortly after we married in 1981. I created and produced gift items that we marketed at local craft shows and sold in our retail shop in uptown Watertown. At that time, our focus was supplies for our clients to make their own creations. As we evolved, we moved from craft supplies to a full line gift store. We still market our hand crafted product at art and craft shows and boutiques.

After 15 years with a retail store, we moved our operation to our home and opened an at-home showroom, displayed at craft shows and put up a tapestry web page. This move gave me more flexibility, while we raised our children. For 10 years our loyal following grew, and with the holiday boutiques we set up in area malls over the holiday season, customer demand was developing for year round service.

As times changed, we felt the opportunity was right to open a brick and mortar operation again. With much research, continuing education classes and a firm plan we opened Cotton Seed Studio in January 2006. With a successful first year under our belts as Cotton Seed Studio, we are reaching out with a new web site, showing you the best in home décor. My assistant manager and myself have a combined 75 years experience in gift, home décor and related fields and Buck brings in many years of customer service experience to the operation.
